How do we deal with challenges in our Christian walk?

Wait did you somehow think that being a christian eliminates you from having challenges? Sorry to break it to you but this Christian walk is all about challenges and overcoming them, one after the next. Is it going to be easy? Nope, definitely not. Will you feel like giving up? Yep, a lot of the times. Does it feel like it will never end? Mhmm, it does… almost feels like “when it rains it pours”. I just think I should be very vivid about the christian walk because a lot of us go in with the idea that it’s going to be easy things, all nice and dandy. That’s not the case, journeying as a christian is hard.

Why do we face challenges as Christians?

My brethren, count it all joy when ye fall into divers temptations; Knowing this, that the trying of your faith worketh patience. But let patience have her perfect work, that ye may be perfect and entire, wanting nothing, James 1:2-4 . In other words, the testing of our faith through our experiences leads to spiritual maturity and inner peace. The struggles and trials we face are not to knock us out of the race but it is to make us stronger in Christ Jesus. It is imperative to know this, especially when we’re in the midst of our testing, so instead of becoming downcast we can indeed rejoice in knowing at the end I will be stronger, better should I persevere.

What should I do when faced with challenges?

  • Tell yourself, this is a test to make you stronger.

  • Blessed is the one who perseveres under trial because, having stood the test, that person will receive the crown of life that the Lord has promised to those who love him. James 1:12

  • Encourage yourself in the Lord.

  • Sing praises unto God.

  • Read the Bible.

  • Pray for strength to endure.

  • Remind yourself that; giving up is the easy way out.

  • Your reward comes in overcoming.

  • Put on the armor of God: Ephesians 610 Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. 11 Put on the full armor of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. 12 For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. 13 Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. 14 Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place, 15 and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace. 16 In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. 17 Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.

2 Corinthians 1:5 Just as the sufferings of Christ flow over into our lives, so also through Christ our comfort overflows.
